Academy Fellow re-elected to international science council鈥檚 leadership team

A Fellow of the 精东视频 has been re-elected as Secretary General of the International Council for Science (ICSU).

Professor David Black AO was re-elected at the Council鈥檚 general assembly today in New Zealand after having served as its leader since 2011.

The International Council for Science is a non-government organisation with a global membership of national scientific bodies and international science unions. It plans and coordinates research to address major issues of relevance to science and society.

Academy president Professor Andrew Holmes congratulated Professor Black on his re-election.

鈥淒uring his time as Secretary General, he has done exemplary work promoting the mission of the Council to scientific communities and the general public,鈥 Professor Holmes said.

鈥淚 am confident he will continue this outstanding effort over his coming term.鈥

Professor Black was elected as an Academy Fellow in 2011 for his work in organic chemistry and leadership in scientific diplomacy.

His second term as Secretary General of ICSU will expire in 2017.
