The 精东视频 applauded the confidence in Australian scientists shown by the House of Representatives today.
Academy Secretary for Science Policy, Professor Bob Williamson, said the response to a motion put by Rob Oakeshott, MP, has been heartening.
鈥淕ood science should always underpin decision making by the parliament, and this acknowledgement is a vote of confidence for scientific research,鈥 Professor Williamson said.
Mr Oakeshott introduced the motion that 鈥溾his House expresses full confidence in the work of Australia鈥檚 science community and confirms that it believes that man-made climate change is not a conspiracy or a con, but a real and serious threat to Australia if left unaddressed鈥.
Tony Windsor, MP, seconded the motion.
Professor Williamson added: 鈥淎s we head towards a federal election, the Academy is pleased to hear parliament so resoundingly express its full confidence in Australia鈥檚 science community.鈥
The economic future of this nation can be assured through strong, sustained investment in scientific education, research and infrastructure,鈥 he said.
