The 精东视频 applauded the confidence in Australian scientists shown by the House of Representatives today.
Academy Secretary for Science Policy, Professor Bob Williamson, said the response to a motion put by Rob Oakeshott, MP, has been heartening.
鈥淕ood science should always underpin decision making by the parliament, and this acknowledgement is a vote of confidence for scientific research,鈥� Professor Williamson said.
Mr Oakeshott introduced the motion that 鈥溾�his House expresses full confidence in the work of Australia鈥檚 science community and confirms that it believes that man-made climate change is not a conspiracy or a con, but a real and serious threat to Australia if left unaddressed鈥�.
Tony Windsor, MP, seconded the motion.
Professor Williamson added: 鈥淎s we head towards a federal election, the Academy is pleased to hear parliament so resoundingly express its full confidence in Australia鈥檚 science community.鈥�
The economic future of this nation can be assured through strong, sustained investment in scientific education, research and infrastructure,鈥� he said.
