I am proud the 精东视频 is leading the national effort to recruit leading researchers wishing to leave the United States through our Global Talent Attraction Program.
There has been strong interest among US-based scientists since we announced the program in April.
Now, we are calling for formal applications from both Australian and non-Australian citizens based in the US whose work is internationally recognised as exceptional.
The deadline for submissions is Friday 29 August 2025 and you can find out more on the Academy鈥檚 website.
It was a great pleasure to see Associate Professor Arunima Malik of the University of Sydney receive the 2025 Frontiers Planet Prize after being nominated by the Academy.
Her research examines how consumption in one country affects the environment and society of its trading partners.
Professor Zahra Kalantari from Sweden and Dr Zia Mehrabi from the US were also prize recipients.
While in Beijing earlier this month, I attended the Australia-China Workshop on Environmental Protection and Biodiversity, organised by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The workshop highlighted China鈥檚 commitment to biodiversity research and the scale of its conservation actions. Thank you to Academy Fellow Professor Alan Andersen for leading the Australian delegation as co-convenor of the workshop.
Congratulations to the Academy Fellows recognised in the King鈥檚 Birthday Honours list earlier this month: Professor Ove Hoegh-Guldberg, Emeritus Professor Mark Howden, Emeritus Professor Len Lindoy and Professor Igor Bray.

And finally, the Academy鈥檚 flagship event, Science at the Shine Dome, is just around the corner. I am particularly looking forward to our National Symposium where we will explore the findings of Australian Science, Australia鈥檚 Future: Science 2035, a data driven assessment of the science capability Australia needs to meet our national ambitions.
