Scientists receive top awards in Canberra

Some of the most prestigious awards in 精东视频 were presented to leading researchers in Canberra yesterday.

The 精东视频 gave out 14 awards recognising scientific excellence across a range of disciplines at Science at the Shine Dome, the Academy鈥檚 annual celebration of 精东视频.

At the annual dinner, held at the National Arboretum, the prestigious Academy Medal was presented to two awardees, Australian physicist Professor Harry Messel and former Australian of the Year Simon McKeon.

Professor Jerry Adams also received the Macfarlane Burnet medal for research in the biological sciences and delivered the Macfarlane Burnet lecture about his work in cancer research.

The keynote speaker at the dinner was ABC Science Show presenter Robyn Williams who spoke about the Academy鈥檚 60th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the Science Show.

Governor-General Peter Cosgrove, environment minister Greg Hunt and shadow higher education minister Kim Carr also attended the dinner and a personal video message from the Prime Minister Tony Abbott was presented.
